MEETING OF UNION.

The management committee of the Horowhenua Rugby District Council met in Levin on Tuesday evening. Messrs Robinson, Neville and Austin represented the local clubs.

Application was made by the Huia Football Club, Rangiotu, that certain men residing just within the boundary of the Horowhenua Union’s district be allowed to play with that club in the Te Kawau Sub-Union. —It was decided not to 'accede to the request. A letter was received from the Foxton Club stating that at a meeting of the committee it was decided to inform the Council that No. 2 ground on the racecourse was not lit to play on, and the Club was not prepared to allow any of its teams to play on the ground until it was put in order. —It was reported that arrangements had been made to have the ground ' put- in order.

Miranufy applied for ‘the withdrawal of that club from.the competition owing to its inability to raise a senior team; also applying for a refund of £1 Is affiliation fee. The withdrawal was approved, but the refund was not granted. A request was-received from the Foxton club for the refund of £2 2s insurance fee, as it was not putting a senior team in the competition. —The refund was agreed to.

Arrangements for the PakehaMaori match, to be played at Otaki probably between the first and second rounds, were discussed, and is was decided to endeavour to secure conveyances to pick up players by running from Shannon to Foxton, Levin and Manakau (if necessary), and proceeling to Otaki, returning the same route.

The gate takings for the district for the opening day were £23, against £l4 last year. On the motion of Mr. Neville, seconded by Mr. Robinson, it was decided that all junior matches he played in 45-minute spells. Two rounds will be played in the junior competition. Junior fixtures for Saturday next were drawn as follows: —Awahou v. Weraroa, at Wleraroa, at 2.50; Miranui v. Hui Mai, at Shannon, at 2.50; Wanderers v. Foxton, at Foxton No. 2, at 2.50; Shannon a bye.
