LOST TRAMPERS.

STILL MISSING

PROBABLE CAMPING PLACE FOUND.

The whereabouts of or whatever might overtaken Desmond Scanlon and Roy Deidrieh, remained unsolved over the week-end, the many parties searching the Tararuaa failing to find any trace of the missing youths. Their food supplies presumably exhausted a week ago, grave fears are felt for the safety of the boys, who left Levin last Thursday week to cross the range to the Wairarapa. Those out searching in the ranges during the past three days, estimated to bo .about a hundred, have had a particularly uneniable experience. For the greater part of the time the range has been capped by thick rain-bearing clouds, while the weather generally has been cold and wintry. Eleven days have now elapsed since the boys departed from Levin with provisions for four days. They arc thus now a full week overdue, and even with rationing it is highly improbable their food supplies would suffice for more than an extra couple of days. One of the search parties report having discovered what appeared to be a camping place on Deception Ridge, between the Ohau and Mangahao Rivers. A bed had been made of fern leaves, while there was the evidence of a lire having been lit. This was probably where the missing boys slept the first night. None of those searching on the western side came in contact with searchers from the Wairararapa side of the range. ■ Up to the time of going to press no further word had been received of the missing trampers.
