ELECTION OF SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

ANNUAL MEETING OF HOUSEHOLDERS.

;\LL RETIRING MEMBERS REELECTED.

The annual meeting of householders to elect a committee for the ensuing year took place in the school on Thursday evening. was a large attendance, wllch overflowed into the corridor. Mr* J. K. Hornblow was voted to theW chair and expressed pleasure at seeing such a large attendance which indicated interest in school affairs. Votes of sympathy were passed to the relatives of the iate Messrs Geo. C. Coley and Wm. Signal exmembers of the committee and tributes paid to their services in the cause of education. The motion was carried in silence all present standing for a few moments. The annual report aud balancesheet (previously published) were read and adopted on the motion of Messrs Woods and Alsop. . / Messrs J. ChrystaM and D. Christie were appointed scrutineers and the ballot for the election of nine committeemen was then proceeded with and resulted as follows: —

M. E. Perreau 72 J. K. Hornblow 62 A. Alsop , 60 R. Rangiheuea 55 A. G. Huntley 53 A. W. Stevenson 48 H. Hutchins ... ...... 44 John Ross 43 S. E. Cowley 37 (Elected). J. W. Coley 37 Geo. C. Coley .33 E. Ball 32 Fred Robinson 30 E. J. Murphy 29 E. W. Sutton 29 F. G. Yeo 27 ,W. D. Neville ..' 24 . (Informal votes 3). Messrs S. E. Cowley and J. W. Coley having polled an equal number for the ninth position, the easting vote was given to the former, a previous member of the committee. HEADMASTER’S REPORT. In moving the adoption of the report (which appears on page four of this issue), Mr \V. 11. Nicholas said the review of the school’s activities ds presented by the headmaster was the best and most * comprehensive he had heard at any similar meeting and the Foxton public were fortunate in possessing such an enthusiastic head, staff and committee. The chairman, Messrs Perreau and Chrystall also spoke’ appreciatively of the school work and a special tribute was paid to the secretary (Mr. R. Rangiheuea), and the report was adopted with applause. Votes of thanks«were passed to the staff, committee and scrutineers. ’ At a subsequent meeting of the new committee, seven of whom were •members of the outgoing committee, Mr. J. K. Hornblow was unanimously elected chairman and Mr. R. Rangiheuea secretary.
