THE MUNICIPAL STAKES.

(By Early Bird.) The Municipal Stakes, to be run on Wednesday, is creating much local interest. There is only one scratching,. Whakapai Mac, who is being reserved for the Harbour Board Welter. There are ten entrants for nine places, and the pace when the straight is reached will provide a great finish to escape the tail. Here are the entrants: — White Leghorn (Little Mat — Pullet), a good stayer, and should pace the pack. He is showing better pace since the Norbiton has been tar-sealed. Codlin Moth (Lollie Pop—Smiler) has displayed a progressive pace during the past two years training, and should have no difficulty in negotiating the stormwater drainage obstacle. He is going well —particularly in the galloping bedstead. Knight of the Cleaver (SuetShort Cut), a previous winner, shies badly at the Easton Park right-of-way. Slap-Dab (White Lead—Raw Oil) is a good, galloper, and accounted for the Progress Stakes in good style. Should keep well up with his stable mates. Pom Pom (Cave —Musician), a steady goer, follows a good lead, and is very tractable. Pine Trees (Rakau —Butter Fat). Led bis stable mates in the last classic-. During the recent gale he * got involved in some falling trees, which has caused a bad roaring. Farmer Frank (Poultry—Spuds and Onions), a likely colt who has 1 been given a try-out to fill a vacancy. Somewhat shy, but should run a confident race. Rangi (Scribe— Progress) will make his debut'in open company. Well trained for the distance, and a good team worker, does not lose his head when negotiating obstacles, ann knows the track. Engineer (Cotton Waste —Integrity) works well in any company. Hi's first attempt, fojr the Municipal Stakes, and should find ample steering way in the ruck. Dad (Nonagenarian Rejuvenation) as hard as nails, likes his head, and objects to the spur. A hard race for an aged horse, but trust an old dog for a hard road, an old dog for a hard road.
