LIGHT BABIES

In reference to a cablegram recently which stated that the smallest baby in the world, weighing 21b. 20z., had been born at Battersea, the local Plunket nurse stated that one born in the Eketahuna district was lib. 12oz. It was reared on Plunket methods, under the supervision of the local doctor, and is now at three years one of the healthiest and bonniest children. Another at Pahiatua weighed 21b. Boz. at six weeks. It was now a healthy child. At the Karitano Harris Hospital there is a record of a baby lib 12oz. at three weeks, who is now live years of age, and quite normal.

A baby born in Newmarket was but lib 15oz. at the time of its birth ten months ago. The child is the daughter of Mr. and All’s. Johnson, of 18 Biekerton Avenue, and the little girl is at present in the lvaritane Home. She has been perfectly healthy from birth, and iu the early stages had to be fed through a fountain pen tiller. Hei present weight is 101 b. The Battersea claim has been disputed by- an Auckland citizen also, who at a mature age scales 10 stone, or thereabouts. He recalled, with some pride, that in his earliest childhood days he weighed a neat 21b., and reposed upon a small pad of wool.
