S.M. COURT.
MONTHLY SITTING,
The monthly sitting of the local S.M. Court was held in the Courthouse yesterday, before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. INDECENT LANGUAGE CHARGE A married woman, residing in Reeve Street, Was charged by the police with using indecent language. Accused pleaded guilty. As defendant was a first offender the S.M. took a lenient view of the case and convicted and discharged her, remarking that he hoped it would prove a lesson to her and expressing the hope that she would not appear before him again. MAINTENANCE CASE. R. 0. 0. Price, of Cliristchurcln was adjudged father of an illegitimate child and ordered to pay 10/per week maintenance. BY-LAW CASES. W. A. Baker, and S. Mudgway, charged with riding bicycles after sunset without lights were each fined 5s with costs 10s. J. Kelly and W. C. Wallbutton, who failed to register dogs until legal proceedings were instituted were fined 5/- each with costs 10/-; R. Shaw and H. B. Cresswell, similarly charged with the exceptipn that the registration fees had not yet been paid, were fined 10/- each with costs 10/-. R. Byno, oil two charges of allowing a cow to wander in the borough was fined 10/- on the first charge and £1 on the second with 10/costs in each case. CIVIL CASES.
Judgment was given for plaintiff by defnclt in the following civil undefended cases:-

Aldridge jiuir., £7 13s sd, costs £1 10s 6d; A. Ross, Rough and Co., v. T. V. Mat hie, £ls 3s Btl, costs £2 15s Od; C. Billing v. H. George, £2 10s Od, costs £llos Gel; E. Wanklyn v. M. Holland, £5 12s 6d, costs £1 15s 6d. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. J. Hercoek was ordered to pax Smith and Starkie £24 7s 6d, plus costs £1 11s 6d forwith, in default 21 days, warrant suspended so long as defendant pays £1 per month. C. Nelson was ordered to pay M. E. Perreau £9 Is 2d, plus costs 15s 6d forwith, in default 7 days, warrant suspended as long as defendant pays £1 per month.
Hemera Hotorini was ordered to pay T. W. Wiinstanley and Son £l6 10s 4d, plus costs £1 Is Od forthwith, in default 14 days, warrant suspended as long as defendant pays £1 per month. W. Aldridge junr. was ordered to pay L. Sim, Assignee of T. W. Wdnstanley and Son, £4 15s 7d forthwith, in default seven days.
E. H. Healey was ordered to pay R. Bryant £4 ,13s Od forthwith, in default seven days, warrant suspended as long as defendant pays 10/- per month. 11. B. Cresswell was ordered to pay T. M. V. Wines, Ltd., £4 13s 8d forthwith, in default seven days.
