. Archbishop Redwood celebrates his eighty-ninth birthday to-day. The death took place at Wellington yesterday of Mr. John o’Donovan, ex Commissioner of Police, aged 70 years. Mr. C. B. Bauckham, of the staff division of the. head offleo of the Post and Telegraph Department and brother of Mr. W. D. Bauckham, of Foxton, has been appointed postmaster at Te Aro, Wellington.

Mr. I. W. Mudford, of Gladstone Street, underwent a critical operation to the lungs at the Wellington hospital on Thursday. His condition is reported to be as favourable as can be expected in the crcumstances. Mr. Mudford who is a returned soldier, is a son-in-law of Mr. P. W. Brown of No. 2 Line.
