ANZAC DAY CELEBRATIONS.
GENERAL MEETING,
A general meeting was held in Mr. Yeo’s shop on Thursday evening to discuss arrangements for the v celebration of Anzae Day. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Yeo and also present were the Mayor (Mr. M. E. Perreau), Revs. Nicholas (Presbyterian), Perymau (Methodist), Walton (Anglican), Messrs W # Currie (Druids’ Lodge), .J. T. Burns (Oddfellows), Warwick (Scoutmaster), Scott and H. Hornblow (Returned Soldiers’ Committee), Miss Dent (Girl Guides) and Mrs. Stanley (Brownies). Mr. Yeo outlined the proposed programme as drawn up by the Returned Soldiers’ Committee and this was adopted.
A parade will be held- in which the Returned men, Band, Fire Brigade, Boy Scouts, Girl Grides, - and Brownies will participate and whic>i wifi (leave the Municipal Chambers at 2.20 p.m. for the Town Hall, where a service will be held, after which the wreaths will be placed on the memorial and the usual rites'appropriate to the occasion performed. “Eyes left” will be observed as each unit passes the monument, during the parade. The order of parade will be as follows: Baud, Returned Soldiers, Lodges, fire brigade, Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, and Brownies.
At a subsequent meeting presided over by the Mayor and at which representatives of the various denominations were present 'a pror gramme of service in the Town Hall was adopted.
