FOXTON-SHANNON BRIDGE

TENDER ACCEPTED,

TOTAL ESTIMATE, £23,822. Advice that the amount of the accepted tender for the FoxtonShannou bridge was £19,482 was received from the district engineer to the Public Works Department at a meeting of the Shannon Borough Council. It was stated that in addition to this amount the estimated cost of applying a bitumen surface to the deck was £360, while the estimate for the right bank bridge approach was £940, and for the left bank, approach £2680, a total of £23,822. This sum will be apportioned as follows among the local bodies concerned: Main Highways Board, £13,562; Manawatu County Council, £4280; Horowhenua County Council, £4280; Foxton Borough Council, £850; Shannon Borough Council, £BSO. It has been agreed that Foxton and Shannon Boroughs shall each contribute fixed sums of £BSO, but the remaining items will be subject to slight alteration according to the cost of the work.
