THE McKELVIE SHIELD
A pleasing ceremony took place at the Foxton District High school on Monday morning when the children were assembled in front of the Hag staff .to formally receive the McKelvie Shield, \you by the school at the Sanson sports on Saturday. The heanmaster, Mr. F. Mason, briefly addressed the assembled scholars and congratulated the teams upon their success. He made special reference to the girls who had succeeded in scoring more points in the shield competition than J'~ the boys. Mr. J. lv. Hornblow in handing over the Shield to Mrs. Stanley, the girls’ coach, congratulated the teams and made special reference to the services of Mr. C. Procter and Mrs. Stanley. He hoped they would be successful in maintaining the school’s athletic prowess and that they would put the same energy and enthusiasm into their studies. Cheers were given for the winning teams and the losers.
