CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor)., Sir, —-Can you inform me when the Borough Council, decided to sell the pine trees which were blown down by the storm in Victoria Park and when the Council gave a certain Councillor the right to sell Ihem and also standing trees in the Park? I am informed that he sold trees to .himself and to others at 5/- each. 1 think, sir, there are other people besides this Councillor who would have been pleased to secure some of the trees for winter tiring. It seems to me, sir, that the Borough Council has acted in a hole and corner manner, and why did the Council not call lenders for the purchase and removal of the trees instead of.aSlowing one man to. do as he pleased? There are several beside myself who would like to hear more of this matter from the Council. Thanking you, sir. in anticipation. I am, etc., A RATEPAYER. [The Town Clerk states that Cr. Woods informed him that certain trees had been blown down in Victoria Park during the recent storm and that he had disposed of them for 5/- each. —Ed. H.]
