THEFT OF BOOTS.
ONE MONTH’S IMPRISONMENT
Palmerston North, March 30. “This man has a long list of previous convictions,” said Senior-Ser-geant O’Grady in the Alagistrate’s Court this morning of Peter Butler, a labourer, aged 55 years, who appeared on a charge of drunkenness, and also of stealing at Palmerston North a pair of boots, value ‘255., the property of Hallenstein Bros. Accused pleaded guilty. It was stated by the police thataccused took the boots from outside a shop, and when noticed, threw them over a fence. He had been out of the Wellington gaol only a week. On the first count, accused was lined 5/-, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment, while on the second charge he was sentenced to gaol for one month.
