FOOTBALL.

Wellington, March 24. The invitation for a Rugby team to visit South Africa in 1928 has been definitely accepted. Mr. S. S. Dean says that the indications are that the team will leave early in the 1928 season. The team, therefore, will be very largely picked from next season’s form. It is proposed to run a series of trials on similar lines to those adopted in the selection of the last team that went to England. It was rumoured that Moses, the Foxton Club’s representative in the Maori All Black team which toured France and England was not going to play for his old club this year. Moses stated yesterday that he hud no intention of deserting his old club and intended to play for the yellow and blacks, provided the club is able to put a senior team in the field. This fact’will hearten up the Foxton seniors who should he able io rally up a good combination and with a skipper with Moses’ international experience, should give a good account of themselves. A committee meeting of the Foxton Football Club was held in Walls’ rooms last- night, presided over by Mr H. Hutchins, (president). The ladies committee reported upon matters connected with the forthcoming ball. It was decided to engage Larkin’s orchestra of five instruments. It was unanimously-de-cided to elect Mr. H. McMullian a vice-president. It was resolved to issue honorary members tickets. The ladies were accorded a vote of thanks for their attendance and the interest they are displaying in the club’s welfare.
