Opotiki, March 22. The Hon. Sir Maui Pomare, who is now in Opotiki, to-day forwarded to the secretary of His Royal Highness the Duke of York the following message: — “Will you kindly convey to Their Royal Highnesses the following message from the Maori people: “Haere ra e te kotuku rerenga tain me to kahurangi kamehameha kia ora.” The interpretation is as follows : “Farewell to you, the snow-white crane which fiies but once in a lifetime, and to your inestimable highborn lady, good luck.”
