FORGERY.

POSTAL CLERK GETS TWO YEARS’ DETENTION. Auckland, March 21. At the Supreme Court William Ernest Carrington, a postal clerk, aged 26, who had admitted live charges of forgery, was sentenced to two years’ reformative detention. Accused has manipulated the account oi‘_a Post Office Savings Bank depositor, and by means of forged withdrawal slips had obtained £6OO. Mr. Justice MacGregor said the money had been spent and had not been repaid, nor was it likely to be. Prisoner evidently had some conscience for after going to Australia lie returned and gave himself up.
