At Christchurch on Monday the Duke received Tami Solomon, who says lie is the last of the Morion and weighs 25 stone. He was introduced by Sir Heaton Rhodes and during a brief stay conveyed good wishes from the Chatham Island to the Duke and Duchess. Two halfcaste Morion were also presented. Three Maori veterans who were introduced to the Duke and Duchess of York at Wanganui were Erucni, of Putilci, who claimed to he 105 years of' age, Ropata, of Koriniti, aged 96, and Hira, of Waitotara, aged 87. The Duke and Duchess had a cheery word for each of the veterans. Ropata saw active service during the Maori War on the side of tile British. The Rev. Samuel Lawry, of Christchurch, has completed fifty years’ service in the Methodist ministry. Mr. Lawry, who is conneetional secretary to the Methodist Conference, will retire this year. Ife has been Methodist Conference president on three occasions. Numerous tributes to Mr. Lawry’s work were passed by Hie conference at Auckland recently, and lie was tendered a luncheon. Mr Lawry has been connectional secretary for sixteen years, and in this position lie will be succeeded by the Rev. M. A. R. Pratt,
