FOXTON FOOTBALL CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING.
There was an attendance of over fifty at the annual meeting of the Foxton Football Club, held in the Town Hall supper-room last night. The meeting was presided over by Mr. H. Hutchins (club president). The annual report stated that last year was fairly successful. Owing to injuries sustained by several of the senior players, the Senior fifteen were considerably weakened and in 'consequence was not as far up in jsoints for the Shield as was at first anticipated'. However, the Club was most fortunate on being honoured by one of its senior members, Moses, being selected to toiu 1 England and France with the Maori “All Black” team.
In regard to the Junior grade team it was found impossible at. times to get a full muster owing to the scarcity of players and there being two separate local junior teams. The third grade team, thanks to their coach, put up an excellent performance being run-ners-up for the Cup in the Northern Division.
The Fourths were considerably weakened owing to the fact that the High School had entered a team in this grade but no doubt this will be of advantage to the club during the coming season. The President thanked the public for their generous support and especially those who contributed to the club funds. Members are indebted to the ladies,- especially Mrs. Procter, for their work in holding a shop day on behalf of the club, but it is to be regretted that so little support was forthcoming from players themselves; the work being almost entirely carried out by the ladies.
The Town Hall being burned, it was impossible, said the President to hold the Annual Ball; this function lias, in past years, been the means of swelling our Club funds. The committee recommends the incoming committee to take a firm stand during the coming season by refusing to allow players to take part in games until their subscriptions are paid. In conclusion the President thanked the members of his committee for the help they had accorded him during the past season and the secretary, Mr. D. R. Barron for the capable manner in which he carried out his duties during his term of office, and also the Auditoi, Mr. D. Christie, for auditing the books. Thanks of tlie club are also due to Mr. J. B. Proud for two lectures given by him to members of the club, and to Hie press for the publicity given to all football matches.' The balance sheet, shows the Club’s total receipts as £56/11/4, and total expenditure £49/5/1, leaving a balance of £7/6/3 at the Bank, compared with £6 at the beginning of the season. In speaking to the report and balance-sheet, Mr E. Bryant said a report had been circulated to the effect that the receipts from shop day efforts were put into the Club funds, instead of being set aside for a dressing shelter. The secretary explained that the minutes made no mention of the receipts being used for the erection of a shelter, but that it took the place of the annual ball. A perusal of the “Herald” file stated that the shop day was in aid of the shelter. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, and it was decided to set aside from the funds the amount raised at the shop day for a shelter shed. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Patron, Mr J.
