WEDDING

HORNBLOW—BARBER. A wedding which united the third generation of two pioneer families of the Wellington province was solemnised 1 in All Saints’ Anglican ■Church Foxton .yesterday afternoon The contracting parties were Herbert Henry, eldest son of Mr. C. W. Homblow, and Rena Hawes, second daughter of Mr, and Mrs. W. E. Barber of Motuiti, Foxton. The vicar, Rev. W. H. Walton, was the officiating clergyman. The interior of the Church was tastefully decorated by members of the Ladies lloc|key Club, of which the bride was captain. The service was choral and Mrs. Jackson presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was charmingly attired in primrose georgette over crepe d ; e chine, long-sleeved with deep lace yoke, silk net embroidered veil, gold shoes with stockings to match and carried a shower bouquet of gladioli, roses and asparagus. She was accompanied by two bridesmaids, Miss Paterson (attired! in cyclamen georgette with gold lace and gold shoes with stockings to match, black georgette hat, bouquet of sweet sultans, asters and maiden hair) and Miss Elsie Barber sister of the bride (turquoise blue georgette over silk with silver shoes and stockings, and black crinoline hat, bouquet of gladioli, roses and maiden hair). Mr. R. Homblow (cousin of the bridegroom) officiated as best man and Mr. Jack Barber (brother of the bride), as groomsman. Among the relatives present were the bride’s mother, attired in floral bordered frock of blue crepe do chine, black bat and black satin coat, bouquet of pink and blue asters ; Mrs. E. P. Cowles,' Hamilton, black and fawn crepe d'e chine and black hat with pink rose; Mrs J. K. Hornblow, navy silk maroeain ensemble suit, with cheelk facings and black hat; Miss Sewell, black and white maroeain and black hat; Mrs. A. R. Hornblow (Wellington), blue maroeain with silver overdress; Mrs W. Saunders (Masterton), flame embossed georgette; Mrs J. S. Hornblow (Palmerston N.), mauve frock with crepe-de-chene trimming and hat to tone; Mrs R. Barber (Te Horo), cinnamon ensemble suit; Mrs S. Barber (Moutoa), blue crepe-do-ohine; Mrs V. Jewell (Feilding), blue orepe-dc-chine; Mrs Reg. Barber (Tokomara), light brown ensemble suit; Miss M. Barber, figured erepe-dc-chine; Mrs. 11. Signal (Te Horo), black and grey; Mrs Weston Barber (Te Iloro), coal frock of,rust brown. After the ceremony the bridal party were motored to the resid'enee of Mrs Richard Barber.(the bride’s grand mother), whose infirmity precluded her from attending the.oerelnnnv, and where they received the old lady’s congratulations and good wishes.

v The guests were entertained at the residence of the bride’s parents, where the breakfast was partaken of in the spacious and artistically decorated dining room. The following toasts were honoured : “Bride and Bridegroom,” by the Rev. W. 11. Walton, and responded to by the bridegroom; “The Bridesmaids,” proposed by Mr C. F. Redman (Levin), and, responded to by Mr It. Hornblow; “The Bridal Couple’s Relatives,” proposed by Rev. W. H,. Walton, and responded to by Messrs W. E. Barber and J. K. Hornblow.

The bride’s going-away dress was a frock of bois-d'e rose embroidered marocain, with coat of petunia and hat to match.

The honeymoon is being spent in the south.
