“THE BARRIER,” A GREAT
FILM.
A sailing ship tossed; in stormy seas off the Siberian coast —a racing fight on deck —maddened men battling furiously in the cabin below, while towering mountains of ice lock the vessel in a death grip—an escape as the vessel is crushel like an eggshell between gigantic bergs. These are a few of the teeming thrills piled upon each other, in the 15)26 adoptalion of Rex Beach’s evergreen novel, “The Barrier,” screening at the Town Hall to-night. The theme of the story supplies a delightful romantic interest which, in association with the thrill charged dramatic nature of the picture makes splendid entertainment, with actors of such sterling worth as Lionel Barrymore, H. B. Walthall, Norman Kerry and Mareelinc Day in the roles evdn greater interest is added. Other pictures to-night are “Here Comes Charlie”, (comedy). New Zealand scenic and Pathe News. Usual prices. An Australian picture of more than ordinary quality, “The Bushwhackers,” will head Monday’s programme. It is a typical out back story inspired by lines in one of Henry Lawson’s poems, and is lilmed amid the rugged grandeur of Australia* unsurpassable back country scenery. A comedy “Moonlight. Nights.” and Pathe Gazette also. Usual prices.
