PRESENTATION AND SOCIAL

Miss R. Barber was the guest of the Foxton Ladies’ Hockey Club, of which she was las tyear’s captain, and presented with an oak dinner wagon, suitably inscribed, at the residence of Mr. and Mi’s. D. K. Barron, on Thursday night, as a token of esteeu, and in honour of her approaching wedding. The president (Mi - . D. R. Barron), in making the presentation, apologised for the unavoidable absence of the patron (Mr. J. Linklater, ALP.)*; who conveyed good wishes to the guest. Mi - . Barron referred to the good qualities of Miss Barber both socially and in the realm of sport, and on behalf of the club wished her health and happiness in her married life.

Mr'. D. Christie (vice-president) endorsed the complimentary remarks of the previous speaker. The health of the guest was then drunk with musical honours.

Mr. H. Hcmblow, on behalf of Miss Barber, acknowledged the good wishes and thanked the club for the token of esteen which would remind the recipient .of the happy tions with her clu:b mates and ofL* many a hard-fought game on the , hookey field. Dancing on the lawu,~J music and games were then indul- 1 ged -in and thanks were accorded to Mr. and Mi’s Barron for their hospitality.
