CHARRED BODY FOUND IN MOTOR CAR.

To Awamutu, Feb. 9,

A fearful discovery was made this. morning toy-a Hairini farmer and his wife when motoring in to meet, a train.

When traversing a back road towards Terohu they saw the remains of a motor car beside the road. An investigation showed charred human remains in the front seat, quite unrecognisable. They immediately came into Te Awamulu and informed the police. Constable Doyle motored out and subsequent inquiries convinced him that the body was that of Charles Edward Honeylield, a wellknown farmer of Roto-o-rangi, six miles from Te Awamutu, who left home about 3 n.m. to meet his bro-ther-in-law, Frank Harrison, who was arriving by the Main Trunk express.. Apparently Mr. Iloneyfield experienced trouble with the car ignition and while endeavouring to fix it an explosion occurred, completely enveloping him. The car was totally destroyed. " Air.' Honeylield leaves a widow and a son and daughter.

LEVEL CROSSING FATALITY

Marton, February . 9,

The man killed at the crossing at Marton Junction last night has been indentified as James Willacy, aged 73, a retired farmer, of Waverley. Deceased leaves four sons and two daughtersh.

Further inquiries reveal that a railwayman named Roulston, who was on duty over 100 yards away saw Willacy fall beneath the tender of the engine which was pro T cveding backwards to the locomotive sheds. Deceased was noticed previously walking towards the station, being on the way to Ohakune to purchase sheep. - His relatives state that his hear.-, ing and eyesight were good and that how he failed to notice the approaching engine is a mystery.
