The High Commissioner’s cable, dated the sth inst., reads: ’Hemp, Manila market opened steady. “J” grade, February-April shipments sold at £47J but declined during this week, value at close being £45 10/-. The Sisal market is steady but only small business doing. Value, Tanganyika No. 1, February-April shipments £4O 10/-. The New Zealand market is quiet. Nominal values are high points. February-April shipments £3(5, fair £35 and common £34.
