PAHIATUA STATION BURGLED.
The cracksmen who have been visiting the Levin and Linton railway stations, securing booty in each instance, evidently included Pahiatua in their itinerary. Shortly before seven o’clock on Tuesday morning, a porter going on duty found the door of the stationmaster’s office widely open, and the safe in the vicinity of the (ticketbooking window blown open by a powerful explosive. A sum of £22 had been stolen, comprising silver, hank notes, and cheques. The inside easing of the door was blown right off.
A jemmy was apparently employed to open the front door of the office. The window facing the safe was cracked by the explosion.

OTAKT,
An attempt was also made to rob tin* safe of the Otaki Dairy Co., at daybreak on Monday morning (says the Levin Chronicle). At the moment this was not regarded as suspicions, hut the appearance of the office showed that the burglars had been at their woric and had abandoned it on hearing the approach of the two company men. The factory is situated alongside the main road about a quarter ol a mile from the railway station, and at- night the locality is a fairly quiet one, the town being a. mile away to the west. The office door had been forced open with a jemmy, arnha jblug of gelignite had been put in the keyhole of the safe. Before the raiders left they took 'a few shillings which were lying in a drawer in the office.
