The Rev. F. and Mrs. McDonald have returned to Pakiatua from a month’s holiday spent at Tongaporutu, north f 'of New Plymouth, a delightful beach camping spot. ' Mr. and Mrs. George Hollard, formerly of Kaponga, and now of New Plymouth, have been married (14 years and -both, were born in New Zealand. Mrs. Hollard is now 85 and AH Hollard 84 years old. Dr. Forrest is filling the duties of medical superintendent of the Palmerston N. Hospital^,until an appointment is made. Dx*. Rose-limes, of Nelson, who was appointed to the position vice Dr. Frazer, resigned, has notified the Bool'd that lie is unable to take up the position. There arrived by the Rimutnka at Wellington yesterday to settle per- < manenlly in New Zealand Rear-Ad miral Robert N. Lawson, C. 8., Airs. Lawson, and their family of five children. Rear-Admiral Lawson took part in the Battle of Jutland, in which historic engagement he commanded the H.At.S. Chester. Admiral Lawson will take up land in the North Island.

Airs, Cohen, wife of Air. Alaurice Cohen and sister of AH. F. J. Nathan, Mayor of Palmerston North, passed away at a private hospital in Palmerston yesterday afternoon, at the age of 63 years, after a severe illness. The deceased, who was married in 1887, was the last surviving daughter of the late Mr. Joseph E. Nathan, of Wellington. She was Mayoress of Palmerston from 1905 to 1907, and was well known in social and musical circles, besides being an ever ready assistant to her husband in many important public positions which he has filled. She leaves two sons — Dr. L. D. Cohen (Wellington), and Mr. Allan F. Cohen (Palmerston) — and six brothers, three of whom are in London, and three in Zealand. Alueh sympathy will 1 be felt for AH. Cohen and other relatives in their sad bereavement.
