INVESTMENTS,
The local Racing Club’s' annual meeting was held under ideal weather conditions on Friday and Saturday last. The attendances on both days compared more than favour-' ably with previous years, but the totalisator investments showed a total drop of £7,433 in comparison with last year. The club is to be complimented upon the improvements effected for the convenience of the public and both officials and caretaker are entitled to a special word of praise for the excellence of the track and the attractive appearance of the enclosures. The President, (Mr J. IWlhyte), committee, secretly, (Mr 5). Ogijvy),, anti his staff dischargee! their dpatifcs |to the satisfaction of all. The catering was in the hands of Mr L. R. Freeman, and gave general satisfaction. Larkins’ orchestra supplied a programme of music at intervals during the meeting. The gathering was not marred by any untoward incident.
The totalisator put through £14,410 for the first day, as compared with £17,152 for the corresponding day last year, and £17,180 for the second, against £21,871 for the corresponding day last year. The total for the meeting was £31,590, compared with £39,023 for 1926, a decrease of £7,433.
