ROAD CYCLING RACES.

Last evening the Foxton Amateur Cycling Club held two road cycle races which attracted large entries. Thirty riders faced the starter for the two events. The public was well represented in Main St. to witness' (lie events. The results are as follows:

B. grade, 4 laps:—E. Cunningliame (lOsec) 1, H. Newson (55sec) 2, J. Aldridge (20sec) 3. D. Lockwood (ssec) 4. A close finish. Newson rode well. King, last week’s winner, came to grief through the pedal of a competitor’s cycle catching his front wheel and smashing the spokes. T. Taylor fell at the Triangle in the last lap but was not hunt. A. Grade, 7 laps:-—W. Marshall (55secs) 1, Aldridge (lOsecs) 2, K. Martin (35secs) 3, Shortt (scr.) 4. Marshall Avon easily, by practically the length of Main St. Aldridge came in a good second. E. Robinson protested against Shortt, alleging that he crossed him in the straight in the last lap. The committee Avent into the matter and ruled a dead heat for fourth place.

A reminder is given of the euchre party to be held in Hamer’s sample rooms in aid of the above club tonight.
