ENTERTAINMENTS

STEVE DONOGHUE AND JACK DEMPSEY AT TOWN HALL.

Two big sporting pictures are screening at the Town Hall to-night, “Biding for a King,” featuring the world’s greatest jockey, Steve Donoghuc, and “Manhattan Madness,” with boxer Jack Dempsey and his wife Estelle Taylor in the leading roles. The former is a thrilling drama of the English turf in which the riding of' Donogliue brings happiness to two people Captain Snowden, a wealthy young man, played by Carlyle Blackwell, and Lady Betty Raleigh, played by June, the English star. The other feature, “Manhattan Madness,” is a gay and joyous romance—spiced with adventure and stuffed with shivery, quivery thrill's. And what fun! When Jack Dempsey, as the young fellow from the West finds New York waiting for him with brass knuckles and has to fight his way to the girl who has roped his heart. Witth supports this entertainment at usual prices 9d and 1/0 children 3d and Od.

“The Street of Forgotten Men,” to-morrow’s feature, with Percy Marmont in the leading role, tells a strange story of a man who leads a double life, and of a girl whose romance was strangely tangled with the underworld and with society. Marmont in the role of “Easy Money Charlie,” who leads a Jeckyell and Hyde existence gives a marvellous performance. Also “Done in Oil,” comedy, and travelogue. Usual prices. A man in a man’s role! Such is the favourite Buck Jones in “A Man four Square,” heading Saturday’s programme. This is a story of a hard hitting cowpunehef who took a fling at the jazz city life and then hurried back to the open spaces. William MacLeod Rainc wrote the story so you can bet it is A.l. Also “Moving Day,” (comedy), gazette and scenic. Prices as usual. Harold Macgraths weird story of two stolen emeralds, “Drums of Jeopardy,” will head Monday’s list. Elaine Hammerstein, Wallace Beery and Jack Mulhall are the featured players. Usual prices. , _
