BETWEEN T\YlO CHINESE Dunedin, January 10. When Kum Chong, aged 77, was charged at the Police Court with having done bodily harm to Charlie Loo Hung, he shouted volubly in his native tongue, a lady interpreter stated that he was saying that he was a Scotchman who only arrived to-day. Later, accused loudly declared that he had killed a man he followed, hut the complainant,. Hung, was not the man. When accused became quiet, the police explained that both Chinamen were inmates of the Old Men’s Home. Hung killed a blackbird, to which Chong strongly objected. Later, the accused was seen assaulting the complainant with a pocket knife, and Hung was in the hospital eight days. The Magistrate, in formally committing accused to the Supreme Court, stated that he would request the Minister"of Justice to have accused detained in a mental hospital.
