FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
LOCAL COMMITTEE MEETING A meeting of the local committee of the Foxton Harbour Board was held in the secretary’s office on Saturday evening presided over by the chairman (Mr. J. Linklater M. P). Also present were: —Messrs. W. E. Barber, R. MeMurray, and the secretary, (Mr. R. Rangiheuea). It was decided to obtain an estimate for caulking and tarring the dredge Hennessy, which is at present beached near the pumping station. The erosion of the wharf at the West Coast Shed was discussed and it y;as decided to erect a concrete breast-wall underneath the store, the secretary being instructed to obi am for met al and cement. v s ' Mr. W. E. Barber reported that he had attended a meeting of the Beach Committee and had explained the Board’s policy in regard to reading, tree planting and other matters of interest, to beach residents. The chairman reported that lie was organising a “working bee” of beach residents to deal with the overflow from the lakes, and prevent it cutting' up the old river bed. The question of again faseining the old track through from the river bed to the ocean bench with flax hands \vas brought up hut was nhnndoned when the chairman explaned that there was now an excellent, road around the point which, he said, opened up one of the finest motoring drives in the Dominion. When the tide is out there is a hard track nearly one hundred yards wide right round to the Rangitikci river.
