THE HEMP INDUSTRY.

A big conference to place the flax industry in New Zealand on a better footing is to he held shortly. Some time prior to the holidays a proposal was. made for reforming the grading system. A draft proposal was sent to all interested persons throughout the Dominion, uml ns a result of the replies removed it has been decided to call a conference to go thoroughly into all -questions connected with the industry. This will he held in Wellington on January 21, and will he attended by Haxmillers, merchants, manufacturers, and representatives of the Department of Agriculture. This will probably he the largest gathering for many years of those interested in the industry.
