CAUGHT UNDERNEATH BOAT

NARROW ESCAPE FROM DROWNING AT TANGIMOANA

A narrow escape from drowning is reported from Tangimoana, a seaside resort at the mouth of Rangilikei River. W. T. Rodgers (23 years of age), of Palmerston North, was returning with two companions from a fishing expedition, last Sunday and as the bar was rough they decided to beach the boat, which capsized in the breakers. Rodgers was caught underneath and his companions first searched the breakers for him before thinking of looking under the boat. When rescued he was unconscious and bruised, but he recovered under artificial respiration.
