HEROIC YOUTH
* JUMPS ON TO SHARK’S BACK. Sydney, January 4. According to the police report, the youth Stanley -Gibbs jumped from a launch across the shark’s back when the fish attacked the boy .Mervyn Allnrn, and beat it off from its victim with his fists. When a boy -mimed Mervyn Allum,, was attacked by a shark at Port Hacking a youth named Stanley Gibbs heroically went to his rescue, ■ punching the monster until it released its hold. Gibbs 'commenced to swim to shore; pushing Allum before him. The shark again attacked, but was beaten off by Gibbs until a boat arrived. Allum subsequently died from bis injuries.
