SPORTS SENSATION.
MIRACULOUS ESCAPE. Gisborne, January 3. There was a sensational incident during the sports meeting on Saturday, while Morrison, a motor cyclist was competing in-the acceleration tost against a motor car. The cyclist had attained a speed of 50 miles per hour and was unable to negotiate a bond in the course. In endeavouring .to avoid an obstacle lie turned, sharply. The machine was turned completely round, threw the rider clear, reared vertically and turned over. The machine was considerably damaged, but the rider was uninjured.
