A WET CHRISTMAS.

During Christmas Eve and Christinas Day rain fell incessantly locally, the fall registering li inches. Despite the inclement weather, the Main St. was thronged with people on Christmas Eve, and the business people were kept busy. The weather ■ became colder on Christmas Day and few ventured out- of doors. Yesterday the weather was beautifully fine for holiday makers. Numbers of local people attended the races at Palmerston; North and a large influx of visitors proceeded to the local seaside, where bathing and sports were indulged in. There was a continuous stream of motor cars on the roads and the trains were carrying full complements of excursionists.
