Manawatu Herald THURSDAY, DECEMBER 23 1926. THE SEASON’S GREETINGS.
BE-FORE another issue of the Herald reaches our readers, Christinas, with all its festivities, will have passed, and the old year will be drawing to a close. The age old message of glad tidings of “peace on earth, goodwill towards men,” will be echoed throughout Christendom, on this, the greatest of all Christian festivals. Broadly speaking, universal peace and goodwill is as a distant star. True, for the time being, the war drums are silenced, but mistrust and suspicion lurks in the councils of the nations and in the industrial world. The wise men of old followed the Star, so let us hope that the wise men of the earth today will press, steadily forward towards that Guiding Light whose beam will ultimately illumine the whole wide world and radiate peace and happiness to the human race. In our own . circle, let us radiate joy and gladness. Borrow, sickness and misfortunte may tend to depression, but a glance at the Star of Hope will disperse the cloud of gloom. Extend the hand of fellowship and let Charity fill all hearts and gladden all homes. Thus, in some measure, may we fittingly celebrate the birth of the King of Peace and Hope of the World. In this spirit we extend to all “A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
