As a result of winning the “Miss Horowhenua” beauty competition, at Levin, Miss Edlin is awarded a trip to Auckland. In the recent examination results of the Wellington Technical College E. Tlcnskic, son of Mr and Mrs Henskio, of Thynne Si., Eoxton. succeed oil in gaining a second class ceil i Ilea I e in engineering drawing, and electrical engineering and secured a first class certificate iu mechanics (elementary). Gilbert Tver, of the Palmerston X. High School, and an ex-pupil of the local school, gained the second aggregate prize in Korin V.lh. Gilbert has also secured an engineering cadetship in the P. and T. Department, at headquarters. We hope this young man will follow in the footsteps of his famous great uncle, Edward Tver, the inventor of the universally used railway tablet system of signalling, and also the originator of the inter-communica-tion telegraph system in England. Miss Inn Robinson was the guest at a gift tea in honour of her approaching wedding at the residence of Mrs .John Robinson, Lady's Mile, yesterday afternoon. The hostesses were Mrs John Robinson and Misses Lorna and Nancy Robinson. The gifts were useful and ornamental. A pianoforte selection was contributed by Miss Woods and a vocal item by Miss I. Robinson. Two competitions created much interest during the afternoon.
