TAR-SEALING BOUNDARY ROADS.
MANAWIATU COUNTY COUNCIL TO BE ASKED TO SHARE COST. The roads which suffer the most from-want of attention in any borough aro probably , the boundary roads, possibly due to the fact that they are under dual control. This happens to bo the case in Foxton anyhow'. Both Purcell *St. and the north entrance to the town have always been in a bad condition and n source of adverse comment from those passing through the town. At last night’s Borough Council meeting Cr. McMurray suggested that the Council should come to some arrangement with the Manawatu County Council to have the boundary roads at the north and south ends of the town tar-sealed by British Pavements Ltd., particularly the north end from the railway line to Russell St. , It was decided to obtain a price for doing this work from the company and to write to the Manawatu County Council, asking if they would pay half the cost of the proposed work, the Highways Boaid subsidy to be divided equally.
