THE LATE MR. SIGNAL.

HIS RESTING PLACE A BOWER OF FLOWERS. The funeral of the late Mr William Signal was conducted yesterday afternoon. Services were held at the residence and graveside, both being conducted by the Rev. S. 11. Pervman (Methodist minister). A largo number of people, representative of the district, attended to pay their last respects to one who was a friend to all who knew him. A special car was necessary to convey the beautiful floral wreaths, to the graveside. Here again, was a silent and loving tribute to the memory of the late Mr Signal. His last resting place was a bed of beautiful flowers, the sides of the grave being similarly decorated, and the casket was lowered into a bower of s.-ented flowers. The pall-bearers wore* Messrs S. E. Cowley, Jno. Ross, J. O’Reilly, .1. Kennedy, W. Young, R. Newson, Yorkc, and Westbrooke. Among those present were: — Captain Harvey, (Wellington), Mr W. E. Fuller (representing Messrs Levin and Co. Wellington), Mr. Keith (E. W. Mills and Co., Wellington), Mr J. Cable, (Cable and Co., Wellington), and representatives of other shipping firms and local and district bodies.

The flag was flown at half mast on (lie s.s. Kennedy out of respect to the late Mr W. Signal.
