YOUNG HELPERS’ LEAGUE.
The annual meeting of members of Foxton D.IT.S. Young Helpers’ League took place last Monday afternoon, when members assembled on the school tennis courts for box opening and social entertainment. A very pleasant time was spent in games while the local secretary (Miss A. M. T. Williams), assisted by Mrs E. M. Baillie, attended to the practical work. Following afternoon tea, which was dispensed by Misses Leslie and M. Williams, the Headmaster (Mr ■Mason) thanked the children for their self-denial for such a worthy object, and announced that the sum of £5 4s 2d was the result of this year’s effort for Dr. Bntmardo’s orphans. Two members, Joyce Shaw and Meta. Mason, have qualified for the silver badge, and two others are to he recommended to the Dominion Secretary (Miss Joyce) for a badge. The League at present comprises the following local members:— Donald Chrystall, Frank Cowley, Ina Easton, Elsie Barber, Thelma Coley, Iris Coley, Norman Reader, Dorothy Potts, Joyce Shaw, Greta Colev, Rosalind Carmont, Betty Hunt, Neil Cummerfield, Meta Mason, Bruce McMurray, Harry Fee, Ula Thomson, Margaret Barron, Reg. Rickerhy, Myrtle Hughes, Docima Brown, Alston Easton, Phyllis. Tongs, Elsie Henricksen, David Booth, Keith Alexander and Constance Sharp. Miss Williams will be pleased to enrol new members on Monday afternoon next, 13th inst.
