MANAWATU OROUA RIVER BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Manawatu Oroua River Board was held in Palmerston North on Thursday, presided over by Mr W. S. Carter. Also present were Messrs C. J. C. Harrison, A. Seifert, H. Akers, N. P. Neilsen, A. Akers, ,T. Richardson, B. G. Gower and H. J. Wolton. The Buckley Drainage Board wrote, stating that it had received advice from the Public Works Department to the effect that £4OO was available as a subsidy on £ for £ in respect to monies raised for the repairing of -flood damage to the Manawatu river stop banks. The services of the River Board’s engineer were asked for the supervision of the necessary work. —The clerk had replied that it would be
necessary to call tenders for the work and enclosed a copy of the specifications drawn up by the engineer for a similar work for the Oroua River, in the hone that it might be found useful as a guide. The Department of Internal Affairs advised that the triennial election of he. 'Board’s trustees would be required to be held on January 11, 1027, and directed attention to certain alterations in the times and forms prescribed for several of the steps to be taken in the conduct of (ho elections. Tenders in connection with the repairs to the breaches in the Oroua river banks were considered, the work to be undertaken by the settlers concerned with a £ for £ subside from the Government. The tenders were accepted for reference (o the settlers, the work to meet with the approval of the engineer.
