ROYAL PICTURES. Rugged pitched battles are one of the features of the UniversalJewel picture “Combat,” which is to be screened at the Royal Theatre to-night, starring House Petres. Among the other virile action there are two thrilling fights which alone stand out as sufficiently thrilling to be the climax of the story. But neither of them is the high point of the story. This comes in as thrilling a forest fire as ever was screened. A comedy entitled “Playing the Swell” wifi also be screened. On Monday night the most laughable comedy of the year will be presented, entitled “Bluebeard’s Seven Wives.” Ben Lyon, Lois Wilson and Blanche Sweet have the leading roles and provide plenty of fun. According to press reports this is the most screamingly funny picture of the year. TOM MIX AT TOWN HALL. “My Own Pal,” the Tom Mix picture heading a special opening week programme at the Town Hall tonight, is probably the most! thrilling Mix picture to date. It is the story of an Irish cowhand who decided to look for adventure in the city. He hardly gets on his way before he meets the first of a thrilling series of events and by the time he has the chance to join the Mounted Police he has adopted a little girl, kidnapped her and saved the niece of the chief of police besides getting into holds with a gang of thieves and saving iiis horse, Tony, from a perilous Comedy “Pawnshop Politics” and latest News. Prices: circle 1/6, stalls 9d, children 3d and 6d. On Monday evening Fred Thomson’s latest Western comedy drama, “That Devil Quemado,” will head another fine programme. This is an actionful picture of a Mexican Robin Hood and his romantic adventures. Supports are Gazette and Cartoon. Prices as usual.
