OBITUARY.
MR. THOMAS RIMMER, AGED 70 YEARS. The death occurred at Te Puke last Tuesday, of Mr Thos. Rimraer, •J.P., aged 70 years. The late Mr Rimmer was well-known locally, where he resided for a number of years. About 20 years ago, Mr Rimmer was the successful contractor for several buildings in Foxton, including the municipal chambers and public school (both subsequently destroyed by fire). At that time he removed from Ashhurst and took up his residence in Foxton, and subsequently bought out Mr M. H. Walker’s grocery business. Mr Rimmer took a keen interest in local public affairs and was a member of the Borough Council for several years. He was also a prominent member of the local Bowling Club. Some years ago he sold out his business and, together with his family, removed to the Auckland province to engage in farming. About two years ago he had a serious break-down from which he never regained his health. The late Mr. Rimmer leaves a widow and grown-up family to mourn their loss.
