READING THE METER.

1 At last meeting of the Horowhcnua Power Board, Mr Petherick said lie had had complaints that the meter reader sometimes called at consumers’ houses a few days under the two-monthly period, with the result that the consumer was called upon to pay the minimum rate, whereas when the full twomonths had expired the minimum would have been consumed. Hi consequence the consumer paid for current not used and the following month had to pay for current that, if the meter had been read at the proper lime,,would have gone into the minimum. The chairman said this cut both ways. The visits of the meter reader might so happen as to he to the consumer's advantage. Over a year there was not much difference.
