FATAL ACCIDENT IN QUARRY.

Taumarunui, November 22. An accident occurred this morning at a quarry near the Makototo viaduct, when, through a fall of earth and rock, a prisoner, Arthur Hosier, was killed, and another prisoner, Ronald Walter Neilson, had a leg broken. The men were carrying out drilling operations when the fall of earth came down from fifty feel up. Hosier was killed instantly. Neilson’s leg was struck by ft rock and be suffered a double fracture. A warder, Raton, who wasi standing a few feet 'away, escaped uninjured.
