CROQUET.
A match for the Bennett Buttons was played at Levin on Tuesday between Mesdamcs Kirk and Hall (Levin) and Mesdames Atkinson and Evans (Otaki). Early inthe game Otaki, the challengers, led, but they were overhauled and an exciting finish saw the Levin ladies still in possession by the narrow margin of 26 to 23. Mesdames Sinclair and Spinley, of the Manawatu Club, are the next challengers, and they will play at Levin on Monday next. COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the Fox- { ton Croquet Club was held on the green yesterday afternoon, presided over by Mrs R. Bryant (President). Also present were Mesdames M. E. Perreau, Moore, McMurray, Downes Barr and the secretary (Mrs R. Owen). It was decided that first, second and points prizes be given for the handicap singles mat'ehes in both A. and B. grades in Connection with the Wednesday tournaments. The draw for the holders of the Nye mallets went to Mrs McMurray and Miss Wanklyn. Tt was decided to purchase a set of championship balls and clips. The tender of Mr Tollison was accepted for lining the shelter shed. INTER CLUB MATCHES. The Association forwarded the following list of fixtures for inter / clnl, matches:— First Round (2nd December): — St. John’s, Feilding v. Woodville, Terrace End Green; Levin v. Manawatu, Northern Green. Second Round, 'December 9th : Manawatu v. Northern, Taknro Green; Terrace End v. Foxton, Manawatu Green, Third Round, 16th December:— Kimbolton v. Takaro, Northern Green; Oroua, Feilding v. Terrace End, Manawatu Green. Fourth Round, 20th January:— Levin v. Takaro, Terrace End Green Woodville v. Oroua., Feilding, Takaro Green. Fifth Round, date to he arranged : St. John’s, Feilding v. Foxton, Manawatu Green; Northern v. Kimbolton, Takaro Green. Play in the above matches to commence at 10.30 n.m. It was resolved to write the Association asking if it would be possible to have the date of the first inter-elub match altered owing to it clashing with the queen carnival crowning ceremony. It was decided that in future, prizes won during the season, be presented, at the close of the season instead of at the beginning of the next season, , It was also resolved that no limit" he placed on the number of points that might he scored in the Wednes-' day half-hour tournaments. Mrs A. Ross was elected an honorary member. _ RESULTS OF MATCHES. In the handicap singles Mrs Owen (5£ his.) defeated Mrs Barr (7J bis.) 26—13; Mrs Barr (74 bis.) defeated Mrs Bryant (84 bis.) 26—13. The half-hour tournament played yesterday, resulted as follows: — Mesdames Pearson 4, Ball and Miss Wanklyn 34, Downes 3, McMurray 3, Woods 24, Barr, Parkes and Perreau 2, Bryant and Owen I£, and Moore 1.
