FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.

COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the local committee of. the Foxton Harbour Board was held in the secretary’s office on Saturday night, presided over by Mr ■\V. E. Barber. Also present were Messrs R. MeMurray, and the secretary (Mr Roore Rangiheuea). An apology for absence was received from Mr J. Chrystall. The committee went into the question of minimum wharfage charges and after a lengthy discussion it was decided to ask Messrs Levin and Co. to confer with them on the matter. The position in regard to Robinson’s Bend in the Manawatu River was also discussed and this matter was held over until the conference with Levin and Co. Tho secretary reported that the contractors (Messrs Parkinson and Rassmusscn had commenced boring in connection with the sinking of an artesian well at the Beach and were now down to. a depth of 50ft. with the bore. At 20ft. a substantial strata of gravel had been encountered. The committee decided to investigate the gravel strata with a view to opening it up for commercial and road and streets purposes at the Heads. It was decided to request the contractors to keep a record of the different stratus and formations through which the bore passed.
