FOXTON DORCAS SOCIETY.

A committee meeting of the Dorcas Society was held in the Plunket room yesterday, those attending being Mesdames F. Robinson (president), >O. A. Pearson, D. Christie, O. Desmond, A. Ross, Stone, Miss Williams and Mrs McMurrav (lion, secretary). Apologies were received from Mesdames Barr, Walton, Moore, Miss Ross, and the Rev. Walton. The secretary reported that four cases had received assistance since last meeting. The lending hag had been returned in good order and there was an application for it to he considered. In regard to this, it was pointed out that the maternity hag was for the use of necessitous and emergency eases only and that where the husband was in constant work, the use of it should not he encouraged. The application was not granted. Mrs J- Newton was elected an honorary member. Mesdames W. Smith (Montoa) and C. Desmond gave sums of 5/eaeh and received the thanks of the meeting. The secretary reported that a number of parcels of clothing had boon received and thanks were accorded the donors. Tt was agreed that the Society go into recess for t lie summer months. Miss A. N. T. Williams, on behalf „r (lie members, moved a vote of thanks to the president and secretary.
