ROAD CYCLE RACE.

E. COLEY RECORDS HIS SECOND WIN.

Twenty-two cyclists faced the starter inj yesterday’s ten mile road race, organised by the Foxton Amateur Cycling Club. Owing to the rough state of the roads, the Cemetery block was cut out and the race was run round the Johnston St. block There was a good attendance in Main St. to witness the event which commenced and finished at the post office. The result of the race was as follows : E. Coley (3Jmin.) 1 1 C. Shortt (scr.) 2 G. Aldridge (IGOsee) 3 D. Knott (scr.) 4 Coley won by about half a lap, his handicap proving too much for the other competitors. In about the fourth lap, four riders who bunched together (E. Robinson, Simpson, Sharpe, and N. Huff) fell at the Courthouse corner. No one was hurt, but bikes suffered minor damage.

At the Shannon Sports on Monday last, C. Shortt, a local rider, won the five-mile cycle race, and L. K. Martin, another local rider was third in the same event. C. Shortt rode into second place in the mile cycle event.
