THE LATE SIR JAMES CARROLL
TO BE BURIED IN PRIVATE GROUND.
Gisbirne, October 27.
Arrangements in connection with the funeral of the late Sir James Carroll are now being completed. Most of the native tribes on the eastern side of the North Island have sent delegates to express sympathy with Lady Carroll. To-mor-row the Ngati Rangi tribe (Tanranga), Ngati Awn (AA’jhakatane), Arawas (Rotorua) and Tuhoes (Urewera County) will arrive in Gisbrne. Intimation has been received that, various local bodies and public institutional will have representatives at the funeral.
In accordance with Maori custom, the Maori mourners will take up a position at the burial ground and await the arrival of the body. The order of the cortege has been tentatively arranged, pending the receipt! of fuller intimation from local bodies and institutions which intend to be represented. The place of interment is private ground a few miles outside of Gisborne.
