ROYAL PICTURES. Those of you who have read the immortal story of The Pearl of Orr’s Island, by Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin, remember the wonderful characters like Aunt Roxy, Capt. Kittridge, Capt.' Pcnncl, Sally Kittridgc, Mara and Portuguese Joe, etc. In the film version, “The Pearl of Love,” rare opportunity is given, and the talented performers do full justice. Imagine a cast including Gladys Leslie, Burr Mclntosh, Charles Lane, Dorothy Allen, Effie Shannon, Alice Chapin, Russell Griffin, Aleta Dore. All the wonderful heart-interest that made the book a “best seller” is faithfully carried through to the silver sheet via the celluloid strip. Don’t miss this great picture when it is shown at the Royal Theatre on Wednesday.
“Along Came Rath,” Viola Dana’s latest Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture, will be shown at the Royal Theatre on Friday. The screen’s most vivacious comedienne is seen at her best as Ruth Ambrose, the gii’l who wakes up a sleepy town. Crammed with amusing situations and portrayed by a wonderful cast. RICHARD DIX IN “WOMANHANDLED.” “Womanhandled,” the latest feature to star Richard Dix, which heads Wednesday’s programme at the Town Hall is described as the screen answer to Gloria Swanson’s “Manhandled.” “Womanhandled” offers Richard Dix his greatest comedy role yet. He is a young pampered city fellow, who goes to the wide open spaces of the West to become a real two-fisted he-man. Produced by the man who made “Manhandled” such a success, the Dix picture is full of.laughs and excitement and should please any audience. A comedy, a further series of screen snapshots and the latest News complete the bill. Prices as usual. Buck Jones is always assured of a big welcome from Foxton audiences so that his latest feature “The Fighting Buckaroo,” on Friday and Saturday next reads well. Plenty of comedy, and excitement.
